Union wins against Nijlen: a positive start to pre-season

The Unionists took on KFC Nijlen in their very first friendly of the season. Dennis Eckert Ayensa scored our first goal of the season and completed his hat-trick before half-time. Union eventually won 0-8.

A smooth start

The first goal of the match came after just 50 seconds. Cameron Puertas found Dennis Eckert Ayensa from the left wing who found the nets in one touch. In similar fashion, Christian Makaté made it 0-2. He scored with his head. On 21st minute, Eckert Ayensa got a deep ball and found the net by lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper. 0-3 and three assists for Cameron Puertas.

Young Unionists prove themselves

New signing from our U23 squad Yari Stevens played a very solid first half. He also gave the assist for the fourth goal through a good run down the right wing. Dennis Eckert Ayensa scored his third goal of the evening. Christian Makaté cut in on his right moments later and curled the ball perfectly into the net via the post. Cameron Puertas also almost got on the scoresheet, but Nijlen's goalkeeper made a fine save. Going into half-time, Union had a five-goal lead.

Yari Stevens continued his good flow in the second half and gave an assist for Union's sixth goal. This time it was Alessio Castro-Montes who opened his account. Moments later, Elton Kabangu scored his first on a through ball. He missed his chance to score his second, but hit the post minutes later. However, Kabangu did give an assist as he dribbled past his man and gave Castro-Montes an easy tap-in.

The match ends in an 8-0 win, a good start to the pre-season for Union! Sunday at 4pm we play again at KFC Nijlen's ground (Graanweg, Nijlen), this time against Patro Eisden Maasmechelen. Tickets are available at the KFC Nijlen ticket office on matchday.
