Union doesn't finish chances and loses in Istanbul
Union played a very strong first half in the hell of Kadiköy, but again failed to score. Fenerbahçe did at its first best chance and from there Union fell behind and lost 2-1.
Union started its first European match of the season scorching. Mourinho's men were underfoot in the opening quarter. There were chances for Rodríguez, Rasmussen, Sadiki and Ivanovic (against the post).
But, no, we couldn't score. After a corner kick on the opposite side, Söyüncü was able to work the ball in. 1-0 for Fener, which was also the half-time score.
After minute 70, Kevito Mac Allister had to pull the emergency brake on the breakthrough En-Nesyri. Union reduced to 10 and to make matters worse, Burgess then processed a ball into his own goal.
Books closed after the 2-0? No, Union still fought for what it was worth and got a penalty kick after a foul on a strong Niang.
Ivanovic's penalty kick was saved, but a minute later the same Ivanovic kicked against the post and the rebound was kicked into goal by Sykes (2-1). But we did not get any further.
