Smooth win against Kortrijk and a 24 out of 24!
3-0 showed the scoreboard at the Marien Stadium on Sunday evening around quarter past nine. Goals by Rodriguez (2) and Lapoussin mathematically ensured Union first place at the end of the first round of games of the regular season, with one match to go. A stellar performance!
Rodriguez decisive before half-time
The visitors presented themselves organised for a half and made life difficult for the Unionists.
There were no real clear-cut chances. Kevin Rodriguez was able to kind of threaten twice, but it was only just before half-time that he opened his scoring account for Union. After a brilliant pass from Rasmussen, Lapoussin headed alone towards Vandenberghe. The latter saved Loïc's attempt, but Rodriguez popped in on the rebound and made it 1-0.
The 2-0 was just under two minutes away. This time it was a perfect counter via Sadiki and Puertas and finally Rodriguez again, who finished very skillfully in the top corner.
Union dominant
After half-time, the win was no longer in danger. An ever-present Puertas did one of those things he is tremendously good at: giving assists. It was his second of the evening, this time for Lapoussin (3-0).

There was extensive amount of substitution afterwards and more chances came. The substitute Eckert Ayensa had three reasonable opportunities to score, but was somewhat unlucky in finishing or with his final pass.
24 out of 24
At the other end, Moris was able to keep a clean sheet. It remained 3-0, 8 games won in a row and 24 out of 24. Now a short break awaits us and then we will kick off again on 26 November at the KAA Gent Arena. Tickets for Gent - Union are available through our fan clubs (combibus mandatory).
