Ghent holds Union to a draw at Duden Park
It ended 1-1 on matchday 29 after an intense game against AA Gent. After Gerkens' opening goal, Union fought their way back into the match. Castro-Montes scored the equaliser.
Union struggled to get the engine started in the early stages. Ghent was the better team, and had a great chance through Tissoudali.
Responding, the Unionists did through Nilsson and Amoura, who just could not slide in in time. A fair 0-0 at half-time was the result.
The second half was ten minutes in when AA Gent opened the mark through Gerkens. A messy goal it was, but Union climbed straight through a leaping Castro-Montes. He nodded the 1-1 in on Lapoussin's cross!
The substitute Lazare then had a great opportunity after a clever combination, but Roef made saves for Ghent.
In the absolute end of added time, Eckert Ayensa hit the ball narrowly wide. But it remained 1-1.
On to the last two matches! Thursday in Istanbul in Europe and Sunday at the Bosuil in Antwerp. Allez l'Union !
