Eckert-Ayensa made his comeback in a behind-closed-doors friendly against FC Twente at the Marien Stadium. FC Twente, third in the Eredivisie, showed their stregths during their game at the Parc Duden. Union fielded a mix of players from the first team and U23, but lost 1-4.

For this second international break (9-17 October), several of our players have been called up by their national teams.

Assistant coach Smolders follows ex-Union coach Karel Geraerts to Gelsenkirchen. Smolders has been with at Union since the summer of 2022. He started the current season as one of coach Alexander Blessin's assistants, but now he is moving to German second division side Schalke 04 with immediate effect.

After the Liverpool game, our Unionists played away again, this time at Stayen against Sint-Truiden. A first goal from Castro-Montes for Union, two goals from Gustaf Nilsson and another goal from Amoura earned three points and first place in the Jupiler Pro League for the Unionists.

In one of the club's most historic games, Union fought tremendously hard, but unfortunately it was not enough for a win or even a draw. Liverpool kept the three points at home thanks to goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota. We would like to thank all the Unionists that were in attendance for their unconditional support!

Over 2,000 Unionists are making this historic trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool FC! There is no official meeting point before the match, which means you can go straight to the away stand. The fanclubs and most of the supporters will meet up at Stanley Park at 5pm. More information below.

Alexander Blessin has a fully fit core for the move to Anfield. Dennis Eckert Ayensa makes his return to the squad. Kabangu, François and Sorinola travel with the squad but are not on the European selection list.
