A victory in Sint-Truiden and leading position in the league!
After the Liverpool game, our Unionists played away again, this time at Stayen against Sint-Truiden. A first goal from Castro-Montes for Union, two goals from Gustaf Nilsson and another goal from Amoura earned three points and first place in the Jupiler Pro League for the Unionists.
Tough opening 15 minutes
In the first 15 minutes, STVV was in control. Hashioka had the 1-0 at his feet, but Moris prevented the home side from taking the lead. Earlier, Noah Sadiki also saved Union with a last-ditch tackle.
Union played off the difficult opening phase and gradually took command. The first big chance came through Gustaf Nilsson. Cameron Puertas, who received a deep ball on the left flank and flashed past his opponent, found our Swedish striker but he hit the post.
But it was only a matter of time. On a quick throw-in, Nilsson pushed forward well, tapped through to Alessio Castro-Montes who made the 0-1. It was Alessio's first goal for Union.
The game seemed to end at half-time with 0-1, but zealous Lazare had other plans. He captured the ball in Union's half, found Castro-Montes who found Puertas and he was brought down in the box. Penalty kick for Union converted by Gustaf Nilsson. 0-2 at half-time!
Efficient Union
Union wanted to kill the game quickly after the break. Another good steal from Lazare was behind the 0-3. The Ivorian waited for Puertas to make his run, who dropped the ball at the far post to the incoming Nilsson. His second of the evening and Union on fire after 58 minutes.
From the bench came Rodriguez and Amoura, among others. And the latter, of course, turned on the turbo once more to make it 0-4. Sent perfectly into the wing by, other substitute, Henok Teklab. The little Algerian makes his speed known now at Stayen too.

Union thus wins 0-4 on STVV's pitch and enters the international break as leaders after ten matchdays. We count one point more than first pursuer Anderlecht.
After the international break, we play against KAS Eupen at the Marien Stadium on Friday 20 October at 20h45. Tickets can be bought at ticketing.rusg.brussels.
