Victory in Kortrijk thanks to Vanhoutte’s swerving strike

Just past the hour mark, Charles Vanhoutte unleashed a powerful shot to score his first of the season and secure three points for Union at the Guldensporenstadion.

As has happened before, Union started the match somewhat sluggishly. Kortrijk posed a threat but without creating any clear-cut chances. Khalaili came close to making it 0-1, and from then on, Union took control.

After half an hour, Fuseini saw his moment. He turned on the jets, perfectly set up by Ivanovic, and slotted the ball past the Kortrijk goalkeeper. 0-1.

After the break, the pattern of the game remained unchanged, with Union trying to play but struggling to create big chances. That was until Charles Vanhoutte took matters into his own hands, struck the ball with some swerve, and made it 0-2. Union in control.

Burgess had a scare when Ferri shot just wide following an unfortunate moment at the back. Deep into added time, Union conceded a goal, but the victory remained yellow and blue (1-2).
