Union wins first home match with forfeit score against OH Leuven

After last week’s draw against Antwerp, Union secured a convincing victory in its second match of the season. Despite missing key players Christian Burgess and Promise David, the team came out firing and was already 2-0 up within five minutes. Even after the break, the hunger for goals remained. Florucz and Niang eventually sealed the final 5-0 scoreline.

Union started the match with a bang. In the opening minute, newcomer Zorgane had a chance to score early. The Algerian passed the ball to Khalaili, who immediately found the net: 1-0. Less than two minutes later, it happened again. Sykes headed in a cross from Ait El Hadj: 2-0.

Union continued to create chances. A shot from Khalaili was cleared off the line by a Leuven defender. After the intense opening phase, OHL managed to find some breathing room and gained more possession. The visitors tried to create danger from set pieces but couldn’t get a single shot on target. Union kept threatening on the counter but without serious goal danger.

Right after the break, Union struck again. Niang was brought down in the penalty area after the Leuven defense arrived too late. Florucz converted the penalty with ease: 3-0.

In the 58th minute, Raul Florucz had another chance. After a long ball, he was left unmarked by the Leuven defense and scored with a diagonal shot to make it 4-0. The Austrian had now scored his third goal in two matches for Union. The Brussels side still wasn’t done, and Ousseynou Niang added a fifth goal after an assist from substitute Boufal.

In the closing minutes, Ait El Hadj got a golden opportunity to score a sixth goal after a backheel from Boufal, but his shot went over the bar. Substitute Giger also had a go, but his attempt was too central. Union ended its second league match with a convincing 5-0 victory.
