Union wins in the dying seconds against LASK!

What an exceptional victory for the Unionists! Trailing by a goal in the first half, the Unionists came back in additional time! Our first win in the Europa League group stage this season, what a delight!

The start of the first half was fairly calm until the 5th minute. It was a magnificent counter-attack led by Puertas, Amoura and Rodriguez that took LASK by surprise. It was the opposition keeper who came out well at Rodriguez's feet to deflect the ball for a corner!

Then it was LASK who pushed forward with a counter-attack and a bouncing shot past Moris, but they didn't count on Mac Allister and Vanhoutte who rushed out to save the ball on the line!

And in the 23rd minute LASK took the lead and scored via Moses Usor on an assist from Filip Stojković. 0-1.

Up until half-time, the Unionists tried to find solutions, but to no avail. Half-time, 0-1 for LASK on the scoreboard.

Keep on pushing in the second half

The second half was also fairly quiet at first, but from the 55th minute onwards our players really started to attack the opposition goal.

However, it wasn't until the 83rd minute that Lapoussin dribbled into the box and forced a tackle from the opposition defender, and that was the turning point of the match. The referee gave Union a penalty, and the crowd went wild as the tension mounted. It was Cameron Puertas who stepped up to the plate, stared down the goalkeeper, stepped up and took the kick. GOOOOOAL! Union makes it level and the stadium goes wild!

The end of the match approached, with 30 seconds of added time remaining. We won a free-kick. Europe's best assists provider Cameron Puertas got behind the ball and sent it into a mixed pack of Unionists and LASK players and found Christian Burgess, who headed the ball into the back of the net to the relief of all the fans! 2-1 and the stadium is on fire!

The referee blows the final whistle and a first victory for the Unionists in the Europa League group stage.

Enjoy this victory! See you in Westerlo on Sunday!
