Union takes 6 on 6 and knocks itself back into title race

Our Unionists straightened up against Antwerp (0-3 and 4-1 wins). The goals last Sunday came through Nilsson, Mac Allister (his first for Union) and Puertas (two goals). Sunday at 6.30pm we host Anderlecht at Dudenpark.

The duel with Antwerp would determine the re-launch in the title race. Our Unionists accomplished this mission, but it is only a start. Because after a dramatic start (0 out of 12), we know that the play-offs are all about details and things can turn around any week.

On Thursday at Den Bosuil, Cameron Puertas most personally popped Union towards a first three-peat. With a surprising free kick, an assist for Amoura and another goal after clever work by Alessio Castro-Montes.

Not only is the omnipresence of our Swiss playmaker pleasing, but also the more stable defence (with a strong Vanhoutte in front) and Nilsson as a cool finisher were back. Nilsson delightfully made the 1-1 on Sunday in the home match against Antwerp after Union went behind. Served by Machida, what a pass, he played Wijndal through the legs and lifted the ball over Lammens in goal.

Immediately afterwards followed a first for Kevin Mac Allister. He made his very first for Union and the 2-1 was thus on the board.

To end the double against Antwerp well, maestro Cameron Puertas set the organ point. First with the 3-1, after half-time. And then in the absolute finale the 4-1, a wonderfully placed ball.

Union approaches to within one point of Anderlecht and Club Brugge. Anderlecht comes to the Marien Stadium on Sunday. Allez l'Union !
