Union struggles past Sint-Truiden

It was not an easy afternoon at the Duden Park. Union took the lead in the second half through David, but Bertaccini equalized. Only in the dying moments, via a penalty, did Ivanovic secure the win for us.

Union played fluently in the opening quarter, dominating possession in yellow and blue, passing the ball around and creating chance after chance. David hit the post with a header, while Khalaili did the same with a stunning outside-of-the-foot strike.

Our dominance gradually faded. Lamkel Zé sent his shot over Moris’ goal, and the halftime score remained 0-0.

On the hour mark, Promise Tobi David stepped up to take a penalty, awarded after a questionable handball in a scramble between Godeau and Ivanovic. 1-0 for Union! Tobi’s eighth goal in the JPL.

STVV didn’t back down and pushed forward, eventually equalizing through Bertaccini. Union had to dig deep to secure the three points at home. Ivanovic first missed the winning goal but later won a penalty himself and converted it. Euphoria at the Duden Park – 2-1!

Now on to Kortrijk this Sunday!
