Union straightens its back in the Pays Noir
In an incident-rich second half, Union battled back from a 1-0 deficit to a 1-2 win. With a goal from Castro-Montes and a gem from Ivanovic.
A well-filled Mambourg with 650 away fans saw a mediocre start.
Charleroi climbed into the lead out of nowhere after 15 minutes. Moris first saved Heymans' blast, but was too late when Stulic popped in to take the lead.
In minute 34, Ait El Hadj had a chance to make it 1-1, but Koné was stronger.
There was not much more to note. Only Charleroi fans caused (negative) fireworks. Their firesticks stopped the match, and did so again immediately after half-time. At 1-0, the players were allowed back into the dressing room for another 5 minutes.
Ivanovic and Sykes threatened first. The Englishman's header went narrowly over.
David then squandered a giant chance, but on the ensuing corner the substitute Castro-Montes scored the 1-1!
Union were loose, David pounded and served Ivanovic, who finished with two checks and a sublime marker over the outgoing Koné.
Union on roses and there it stayed. Charleroi could no longer threaten Moris and the three points went with them to Brussels.
Union thus recovered after last Wednesday's cup elimination.
