Union manages to get win against Mechelen over the line

Thanks to a goal from Amoura, Union got the three points at the Marien Stadium against a fierce and good KV Mechelen who could have claimed a point in the end.

The first 10 minutes were a bit sluggish, partly due to Thursday's game. Nevertheless, the biggest threat in the first half was for Union. Amoura popped from outside the penalty area, but Coucke saved. The Mechelen goalie did the same again on a header by Lazare. Union deserved to be in front, but had to settle for a scoreless draw at half-time.

After the break, Amoura did break the Mechelen wall. Lapoussin took a good shot and Amoura was able to get the ball into the back of the net with a diving header. 1-0! Another goal for our little Algerian.

Afterwards, we missed chances for the 2-0 with Puertas and Burgess, but it was mainly on the opposite side that things got hot. Moris had to prevent the equaliser with two excellent parries and then there was a ball that was cleared off line by Kevin Mac Allister.

It was intense for Union but we were able to keep the three points at home!

On to next week in and against Eupen!
