Union goes to the next round of the cup!
The Marien Stadium was filled with nearly 5,800 spectators and Union won 2-1 in the Round of 32 against RFC Meux. We came away with a scare at the late 1-1. Rasmussen provided the 2-1 and accompanying relief with a quick reaction. Union goes to the next round!
As expected, Union immediately took the initiative. Chances were noted for Rasmussen, Sadiki and Kabangu. But they were not particularly dangerous.
Fedde Leysen's first goal for Union
Union had to wait until a hard shot by Rasmussen went wide and the flame finally ignited somewhat. After yet another corner kick, Leysen was able to make his very first for Union, 1-0. Both teams went to the dressing room for half-time moments later.

After the break, there was a lack of opportunities for the men in yellow and blue. In minute 61, Teklab popped one narrowly wide of goal. A few moments later, the German went past two players, but shot in the arms of goalkeeper Libertieaux.
Horns hushed up
The substitute Puertas also rattled a shot narrowly wide from a free kick in the 73rd minute. Afterwards Terho tried his luck, but his shot was also saved by Libertieaux.
Out of nowhere the visitors made it level after a quick and efficient counter. The crowd exploded, but the horns soon died down. Because on a Puertas pass, Rasmussen made it 2-1.

Guillaume François missed another opportunity, his nick was again skilfully kept out of his goal by Libertieaux. He did so again on a shot from close range by Lapoussin.
And so it remained 2-1 and we can look forward to Sunday's home game against Club Brugge in a sold-out Marien Stadium! See you then, and happy birthday Unionists!
