Union doesn't finish off chances and gets a draw away at Anderlecht
A point picked up by Union at the Lotto Park. We had the chances, but forgot to score the decisive goal and it unfortunately became 2-2 in added time.
Eight minutes passed until the first chance and it was an instant hit for Union. After Vertonghen missed, Nilsson popped in from close range and alertly. Anderlecht had some ball possession, but Union was well organised.

L'Union a eu plusieurs occasions, surtout grâce à Amoura et Nilsson. L'algérien était aux soins pendant quelques minutes mais est de retour sur le terrain.

After half an hour, we benefited again from a miscontrol by Jan Vertonghen, due to a treacherous bounce. Amoura went around Schmeichel and laid the ball in. 0-2.

Five minutes later, Anderlecht had their first real chance. Vertongen got one back after a corner from Les Mauves. Amoura was then close to the 1-3, but he was blocked in extremis. On the ensuing corner kick, Nilsson nodded narrowly wide.
1-2 at half-time.
After the break, Anderlecht was more dominant compared to the first half. There were no real big chances. At the other end, substitute Rodriguez threatened with a curl, but Schmeichel saved. Union regained control with twenty minutes left on the clock.
Anderlecht also created chances. Vazquez headed narrowly over. But bigger alarms returned to Union's attacking side. When Nilsson had the chance to go for Schmeichel alone, but he saved again. A minute later, it was Union again. Sykes shot on the turn, and again the Anderlecht goalie saved.

Union actually had to kill the match. But as so often happens, the goal fell unluckily on the other side. After a free kick, Hazard stood alone and he popped in the equaliser. 2-2 in added time. We take a point in Anderlecht, but could have claimed just a bit more. On to Wednesday and a derby against RWDM at our own Joseph Marien Stadium. Tickets are available at ticketing.rusg.brussels.
