Ten-man Union wins an intense game against Antwerp

Union picks up three important points against Antwerp FC. After an early counter-goal in the first minute and a red card for Machida shortly after half-time, Union battled to victory thanks to Mac Allister and Sykes.

The match started with a dip at Duden Park. Janssen opened the scoring for the visitors after only 50 seconds. Union struggled a bit afterwards.
 

Until Lapoussin threatened a first time header. Ivanovic took the goal under fire twice, his first attempt was saved by Lammens and his second went over.
 

The biggest chance was for Fuseini, but he choked face-to-face with Lammens.

On the stroke of half-time, Boufal served the incoming Mac Allister from a free kick.1-1!

 

After the break, Union wanted to continue on its momentum. But red Laforge poked a stick in the wheels with a second (light) yellow card for Machida.We had to continue with 10 men, but found the dogged determination to make a second.


Sykes was found on the far post corner kick from Lapoussin, via Khalaili, into the net.

 

The lock went on from minute 60, Antwerp had two more chances, but Moris stood firm and was assisted by his defenders.

The three points stayed in the Duden Park.
