Scherpen is Union’s new goalkeeper
Dutch goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen (25) has signed with Royale Union Saint-Gilloise until 2028.
Our new goalkeeper spent last season at Sturm Graz, where he was on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. Scherpen came through the youth academy at FC Emmen and was signed by Ajax Amsterdam in 2019.
In the summer of 2021, he joined Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion. Six months later, he was loaned to Belgian club KV Oostende. He only featured in seven matches there, but still managed to showcase his talent — including in a 1-1 draw against Union at the Duden Park.
Scherpen has today signed a contract with Union until 2028.
Welcome to Saint-Gilles, Kjell!
