Moris’ hand keeps Union on top
After Burgess’ header, it was the hand of Moris. A crucial penalty save from Anthony Moris helped Union hold onto their lead in the second half of the Brussels derby. A tight but impressive 0-1 win was enough. On Saturday, we move as one to the Bosuil!
The derby had barely started — just three or four touches in — when Union were awarded a penalty after a challenge between N’Diaye and Khalaili. The VAR took an eternity to decide — a pattern that would repeat later in the evening — but eventually allowed Ivanovic to take the spot kick.
Franjo missed, so no early 0-1. Fuseini also failed to convert a one-on-one with Coosemans a few minutes later. But the breakthrough did come: our Ghanaian speedster made it 0-1 after a defensive error from Anderlecht and an assist from Ivanovic.
Fast forward to the second half: Sadiki won the ball, found Ivanovic, who set up Ait El Hadj — but his first-time shot went over. Then came trouble on the other end. A featherlight touch from Mac Allister led, after another long VAR check, to a penalty.
Moris brilliantly saved Dolberg’s effort, and Stroeykens scored the rebound — but he had moved too early, and the goal was ruled out. Again, after an endless wait.
Union calmly saw out the match and stay top of the Champions’ Play-offs. Saturday evening: Bosuil Stadium. Antwerp vs Union.
Allez l'Union !
