Missed chances cost Union dearly against Inter
An opening half-hour that maybe deserved a goal or two, but we failed to take our chances. Inter struck twice just before the break, added a soft penalty after half-time, and a fourth later on. Once again, it ended 0–4, a reality check we’ll learn from.
Promise David came out firing against Inter, around the 4th minute he got away from De Vrij, turned cleverly and forced Sommer into a save.
Moments later, a Burgess goal was cleared off the line, and Rasmussen’s powerful effort was punched away by Sommer.
Union pressed hard, but around the 40th minute had to give way. Dumfries scored from a corner, and four minutes later the Italians doubled their lead on the counter — a fine finish from Lautaro Martínez.
After the break, Union’s bad luck continued. A Martínez header slipped through Mac Allister’s fingers, leading to a penalty. Calhanoglu made it 0–3.
Our Unionistes kept fighting, but the goal again fell for the visitors — Esposito made it 0–4. A harsh scoreline, but another match we’ll learn a lot from.
See you Sunday at the Duden Park!
