Ivanović hat-trick secures Union victory over Westerlo

Two goals in the first half and a clinical finish in the second—Franjo Ivanović scored three times against Westerlo. It was enough to seal a well-deserved 3-1 win.

Union dominated most of the first half but struggled to score despite chances for David, Ivanović, and Lapoussin.

Westerlo had the best opportunity of the opening quarter, but a brilliant sprint from Khalaili denied the 0-1.

Union kept pushing and got their reward. Ivanović tapped in a loose ball after a corner, and just minutes later, he was in the right place again to slot home a deflected header from David. 2-0 at halftime.

Right after the break, the Franjo show continued. David turned cleverly and sent a perfect through ball to Ivanović, who chipped the 3-0 beautifully over goalkeeper Gillekens.

Westerlo quickly pulled one back through Bos (3-1), but that was the end of the scoring. Union climbs into the top six with this much-needed win. See you Sunday at a roaring Marienstadion against Brugge!
