Friendly: Union loses 1-4 to FC Twente

Eckert-Ayensa made his comeback in a behind-closed-doors friendly against FC Twente at the Marien Stadium. FC Twente, third in the Eredivisie, showed their stregths during their game at the Parc Duden. Union fielded a mix of players from the first team and U23, but lost 1-4.

No real chances fell after 20 minutes of football. The first danger came after Rasmussen's fourth corner kick. François could not get the ball on target.

More chances after 20 minutes

Around the half-hour mark, after missing a big opportunity, Ugalde stepped up for the visiting team. Twente opened the mark through Sem Steijn who punished an Union defensive error.

The game got more momentum, as Ugalde, once again, curled his shot just over the goal. At the other end Kabangu was able to slide in after a cross from Eckert-Ayensa. Union were unlucky to not equalise and even worse, conceded another goal. A deviated shot from from Ugalde found Besselink on the rebound. 0-2 for Twente.

Steijn (again) made it 0-3 for the Dutch team after an effective counter-attack. Union replied immediately through a quickly-taken free kick from Rasmussen to Puertas, who painted the ball onto Kabangu's head for the 1-3.

Twente runs out further

Chances galore after Union pulled one back. Twente's left back Smal hit the bar, and the game practically was over.

After the break the first danger came from the visitors, Steijn kicked it narrowly over from a free kick. The game was now more firmly under control. Only a good ten minutes before full time, some excitement in an empty Parc Duden, van Bergen found our substitute third goalkeeper Wenssens in his path.

Union still came close to making it 2-3 with a shot from midfielder Asri, but goalkeeper el Maach turned his effort away. After a solid attack, Twente made it 1-4 through Steijn for his hattrick. Ugalde also hit the post. Union striker Berradi headed the ball wide on the other end. The game ended in a 1-4 defeat for the Unionists.
