Four-hit win against Genk

With a 4-0 win against leaders Racing Genk, Union set a benchmark match just before yet another international break this season. In a fortnight' time, that performance should be followed up in Leuven.

Union started the match with a thunderbolt, Lapoussin signed. Hard and dry into the corner, the Duden Park exploded. 1-0!

Union still had chances, but then had to fold back against a leader who came on stronger. There were no real big chances for Genk, although Moris had to intervene well on a distance shot by Hrosovsky.

Union was standing strong, and lurked on the counter. The match featured a lot of midfield play, until Lapoussin threw the ball in front of goal and Promise ‘Tobi’ David buffeled it in, 2-0 at the break.

VAR validates

After the break, Union immediately started with a great chance. Lapoussin found Ivanovic, who popped, Van Crombrugge saved, and Sadiki popped the 3-0 (!) in. His first! There was actually a foul on Heynen beforehand, but VAR allowed the goal to go through.

Still it was not over. A little after the hour, David ‘Tobi’ Promise was able to go off alone on goal. He finished coolly. 4-0!

On to Leuven

The match then fell silent. The substitute Boufal almost scored a world goal from the halfway line. But it remained 4-0. That's gratifying. International break now and then to Leuven, buy ticket and bus ticket through our fan clubs! See you then! Allez l'Union !
