Draw against Toulouse FC in the Europa League
Union drew against Toulouse FC in our first Europa League match of the season. After going behind, we came back thanks to Mohamed Amoura.
Union got off to a flying start, who attacked from the outset. Following a fine Nilsson-Lazare combination, Union won their first corner of the game in the very first minute.
Meanwhile, Charles Vanhoutte was shown a yellow card and after 25 minutes Union were still fighting but unable to create any dangerous chances.
The biggest chance of the first half came from Gustaf Nilsson, in the 37th minute, with a shot that was well deflected by the opposing goalkeeper, Guillaume Restes.
Just before half-time, Toulouse won a penalty and converted it with Moris diving to his left. 0-1.
Keep on pushing in the second half
After the break, the Unionists continued to fight and push.
The turning point of the match came in the 61st minute when our fiery Algerian striker, Mohamed Amoura, came on to set the pitch alight!
It was in the 67th minute that he went off on a solo run down the wing, dribbled past two opposition players and slotted home. 1-1.
In the 73rd minute, he came close to repeating the feat and putting us ahead, thanks to the same move but this time on the other side of the pitchThe ball was saved by Restes.
Anthony Moris came to our rescue with two decisive saves in the 89th minute. Then we finished off with a great chance from Kevin Rodriguez that ended up in the arms of the opposing goalkeeper.
A draw after a great battle in our first European game of the season. See you on Sunday against Cercle Brugge!
