Defeat against Liverpool despite good performance
In one of the club's most historic games, Union fought tremendously hard, but unfortunately it was not enough for a win or even a draw. Liverpool kept the three points at home thanks to goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota. We would like to thank all the Unionists that were in attendance for their unconditional support!
A historic match it certainly was. "Bruxelles, ma ville" was sung with full pride after another magical "You'll Never Walk Alone". Union were well structured, but on the 5th minute the Reds still found space behind Union's defence. Salah got one-on-one with Moris, but our captain came out perfectly.
Union's best chance in the first half came from a free kick by Cameron Puertas that found Gustaf Nilsson at the far post. The Swede jumped too early and failed to find the target. Despite a good performance from our captain, he could not clip Trent Alexander-Arnold's shot and Ryan Gravenberch made it 1-0 just before half-time.
Union keeps on fighting!
Liverpool pressed on but Union stood very firm defensively. Puertas' creativity and Amoura's speed made things difficult for the home team but our Unionists failed to get into Alisson's box in an efficient manner. On minute 66, Union went on the counter-attack with Terho on the ball, who tried to find Lazare, but Quansah intercepted the ball perfectly.

Lapoussin, Rodriguez, Sadiki, Rasmussen and Sykes still entered the field, but even they could not provide the equaliser. In extra time, Jota got the ball in the sixteen and placed it perfectly into Moris' net.
A match to remember, despite the defeat. Thanks to all the supporters!
We meet on Sunday for an away match against STVV! Kick-off is at 19h15.
