Call: Who were our heroes of the cooperative and Union's rescue?

On Friday 15 October 1976, Union was declared bankrupt. Fans set up a cooperative that would eventually save Union and its 'matricule' 10. There were hundreds of fans who invested to save the club. The minimum amount to join the cooperative at the time was 1,000 francs. Union is now 48 years later looking for more information about those investors. Please note: support cards of 20 francs do not count as shares.

As of the declaration of bankruptcy in October, fans sold support tickets for every home game at 20 francs each. And just after that declaration of the club's bankruptcy, more than 10,000 fans came to the next home match to pay off debts.

Union could not and would not disappear. So a cooperative company was set up under the leadership of Paul Vanden Boeynants, ex-prime minister and Unionist, and former coach Georges Heylens, among others.

Union is today seeking information about its fans who invested in shares at the time. Please note: 20-franc support cards do not count as shares. Only shares (with proof) will be taken into account. If you invested in shares yourself, or if you have information about a deceased fan who invested in shares at the time, please fill in the form below, and the club will contact you.

You can transfer your details until 31/12/2024.
