Bayern punish three costly minutes from Union

A strong first half was undone by a goal from a corner and a penalty, both finished by Harry Kane. Union missed the chance to take the lead through Promise David, but still delivered a strong performance at the very highest level.

nion played compact and disciplined against Bayern. The home side created very few chances, while the Unionists managed to threaten. Promise David headed on target, only to be denied by a fantastic save from Neuer. Mac Allister also saw Raúl’s free kick slide just wide.

After the break, Bayern came out with a different intensity. From an Olise corner, Kane glanced the ball in with his head to open the scoring.

Union were briefly shaken. After pressing too high, Bayern played it out brilliantly: Scherpen committed a foul on Kane in the box, and the striker converted the penalty to score his second.

Despite being reduced to ten men following a second yellow card for Kim, Bayern saw out the remainder of the match with great maturity.

Union fall 2–0 in Munich and will need a miracle next week to progress in the Champions League.

All hands on deck next week at the Astrid Park against Atalanta.
