Union takes point against Roma

A fair and justified 1-1. Two errors of judgement by both goalkeepers ensured a draw at the Heysel. Union have 2/12 and four more matchdays to turn things around in the League phase of the Europa League.

The opening minutes at the Heysel were dominated by Union. Khalaili shot narrowly over, the home side pressed. Although it took a while for more danger after that blistering opening phase, Niang forced goalkeeper Svilar to make a save in the short corner.

The Italian visitors had one chance in the first half. Moris boxed away Baldanzi's shot.

AS Roma had a better period after the break. A strike from Baldanzi again landed against the post. Delay of execution, as Mancini climbed higher than Moris on a cross and headed in for the 0-1.

Union went in pursuit and got their reward in minute 77, when Mac Allister headed a corner kick from Vanhoutte into goal. In the absolute final minutes, substitute Ait El Hadj failed to get the ball into goal and so it remained 1-1.

With two out of 12, Union travels to the next Europa League in Enschede for the match against Twente on 28 November. Tickets for that match are available from Tuesday 12 November.
