Union eliminate Dender and qualify for the semi-finals of the Croky Cup!
After a well-controlled performance, Union booked their place in the last four of the Croky Cup thanks to goals from Promise David and Kamiel Van de Perre. We will now face Charleroi in a two-legged semi-final, to be played on February 3rd, 4th or 5th (first leg) and February 11th (second leg).
This Thursday, January 14th, our Unionists travelled to Denderleeuw for their first match of the year 2026. An important fixture, as it was a quarter-final of the Belgian Cup. The game started at a fairly calm pace, allowing the roughly 600 Union supporters to warm up their voices in a stadium where only they could be heard.
The suspense didn’t last long. After 20 minutes, Raúl played the ball into the box for David, who didn’t hesitate to turn and shoot. A thunderous strike that hit the crossbar before flying into the top corner: 1–0.
Twenty minutes later, a beautiful Union move saw Ait El Hadj set up Kamiel Van de Perre, who scored his first goal for Union and his first goal in professional football.
The second half was calmer and fully under Union’s control. Two moments are worth highlighting, however. Winter signing Mateo Biondic made his first appearance, coming on for his debut minutes. A positive introduction for the striker arriving from the German fourth division. Mo Fuseini also returned to action after suffering an injury last summer during our friendly match against Feyenoord. Congratulations to them and to the rest of the team on securing qualification!
Back at the Marien this Saturday for a match against KV Mechelen. Allez l’Union!
