Union chooses not to look away

With the testimony of Sophie*, a Union supporter, about sexual violence during an away match, we want to remind everyone that unacceptable behaviour can also occur around Union. This despite our stands being very mixed, with positivity and openness at the heart of our identity. We do not look away: not when someone has the courage to speak up, and not when the reported incident is questioned by others. Sexual violence is never the victim’s fault. So do not look away. Every inappropriate touch, every misplaced remark and every victim of sexual violence is one too many.

Sophie’s testimony:

- With the SAFER project, launched at the beginning of 2025, we continue to act around three pillars: a Care Team in the stadium, a more visible role for the SLO (Supporters’ Liaison Officer) and a reporting system with a helpline (0497/44.44.48).

- Union is actively working on establishing a legal framework that allows the exclusion of supporters who do not respect the SAFER code of conduct, not only during home matches but also during away matches.

Raise the alarm and intervene if you notice inappropriate behaviour.

If you do not feel safe in the stadium, contact our Care Team. You can also reach Union via slo@rusg.be. You can find more information about SAFER here.
