Union Academy takes the next step

Union invests in knowledge, infrastructure and culture within its youth development programme.

With major investments in the Union Academy, Union aims to close the gap with the Belgian elite when it comes to developing young talent.

A new main building, a complete new look and feel, and soon a brand-new Performance Hub. A quick walk around the Union Academy training complex immediately shows that the club is not standing still. And these are only the most visible changes. In recent months, under the leadership of Academy Manager Henk Mariman and Head of Methodology Shawn Bishop, a great deal of work has gone into integrating new full-time coaches across all youth teams, as well as embedding the high-performance culture that now befits a club like Union.

Following the rapid rise of the first team, with promotion in 2020/2021 and a European campaign every season since 2022/2023, Union is also building for the future within its Academy. The club knows that this is a long-term project. But that does not stop Union from fully embracing the challenge and taking it on. The major investments being made now are only the beginning.
