Promise David makes the move to the Premier League

Canadian striker takes the next step in his career at Brighton & Hove Albion

fter two highly successful years at Union, Promise David will be playing in the English Premier League from next season onwards. The towering striker is joining Brighton & Hove Albion for a new record-fee for Union.

David joined Union in the summer of 2024 after spells in the top flights of Estonia and Malta. In his first season in yellow and blue, he scored eleven goals in the regular league season, but it was his eight goals in the Champions’ Play-offs that made history for Union. Ninety years after the club’s previous league title, Union were crowned Belgian champions once again, with David’s goals playing an important role in our success.

Last season, David made his Champions League debut with Union. He made his mark there as well, scoring two goals: Union’s very first Champions League goal, against PSV, and the only goal in the game against Galatasaray. In the Belgian Cup, he scored in every round, but was forced to miss the victorious final through injury.

He continued to play an important role for Union this season after representing Canada at the World Cup. David scored in the penalty shootout that earned Union the Super Cup. Following the 2024 Super Cup, the 2024/2025 Belgian league title and the 2025/2026 Belgian Cup, it was already his fourth trophy with the Brussels club. He also scored in the Champions League qualifying rounds against Bodø/Glimt, while his goal against Westerlo will go down as his final goal for Union.

Union would like to thank Promise for all the great moments, goals and trophies, and wish him every success in the Premier League. Until we meet again, Tobi!
