Nohim Chibani strengthens Union’s defense
22-year-old central defender Nohim Chibani is Union’s newest summer signing. The French-Algerian played in Ligue 3 last season and was a free agent. He has signed with the Belgian Cup winners until the summer of 2030.
Following Nikki Havenaar, Chibani is the second summer addition to Union. Like Havenaar, Chibani is also a defender. Originally from Lyon, Chibani joined the youth academy of Ligue 2 club Grenoble Foot 38 at the age of 14. After stints at various other French clubs in the fourth and third tiers, he now takes the step to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League runner-up.
Welcome at Union, Nohim!
Chibani: “I’m very excited about the opportunity I’ve been given here at Union. This is a big club with a rich history that knows how to win trophies. This is a significant moment for me, and I hope to take the next step in my career here. The atmosphere within the club is very family-like, and I fully identify with the core values: passion, commitment, integrity, courage, and humility. I’m looking forward to discovering everything: my new teammates, the fans, the stadium, and the city.”
