Join the Re-CUP-el campaign!
During our home match against KV Mechelen (10/05), our campaign with gameday partner Recupel takes centre stage. During the play-offs, Union faces Cercle Brugge and OH Leuven in a special competition: the club that collects the most old mobile phones wins the Re-cup-el trophy.
The challenge
Bring your old mobile phones to the Recupel point before the match against KV Mechelen on 10 May and score for your club, because every phone counts in the standings. As a supporter, you'll receive one free drink and a chance to win one of the following prizes:
- A signed shirt
- One of three unique refurbished fanphones
- A voucher for our webshop
Your phone = 1 goal
Every phone handed in counts as a goal. To keep things fair, the number of phones collected is measured against the number of home supporters. The club with the best score wins the Re-cup-el trophy and €5,000 for youth development or a sustainability project of their own.
The 12th man decides. The players give everything on the pitch. But this time, the victory is in your hands too.
Why?
Because we want to score for the environment together. Old mobile phones contain valuable materials such as gold, silver and copper. By recycling them through Recupel:
- up to 98% is recovered
- we save raw materials
- we reduce CO₂ emissions
According to recent research, more than 1.6 million unused mobile phones and smartphones are sitting in drawers across Belgium. A real waste, because:
- they contain valuable materials
- new raw materials are becoming increasingly scarce
- extraction has a heavy impact on people and the environment
Still hesitating? Maybe you're keeping your device as a backup. Or out of nostalgia. Understandable. But know that you can have a positive impact on our planet.
