Genk - Union: Belgian Football Federation hearing after unsporting behavior

Union appears this afternoon before the disciplinary committee of the KBVB after a ball was thrown onto the field from our bench during injury time of the Genk - Union match last Sunday. Our equipment manager was wrongly given a red card for this. However, after internal discussions this morning, it turns out that our goalkeeper Vic Chambaere threw the ball onto the field.

An action that Union strongly condemns and is not in line with our values or those of our fans. Union will always give everything on the field, but above all stands for sportsmanship both on and off the field.

This morning, our management had discussions with our technical staff and player Vic Chambaere.

We also wish to apologize to the match officials and our opponent from Sunday afternoon for the ball being thrown onto the field in the final moments of the match.

The player and the club will appear this afternoon before the disciplinary committee of the KBVB and will take responsibility. In addition, the player will actively participate in the fair play program of our Union Academy, as this is not the image of football that our club wants to project to our youth.
