FC Lugano is our opponent in Europa League play-off round

Swiss side FC Lugano will be our opponent in the preliminary round of the UEFA Europa League. We should normally play the first game on 24 August in Brussels (Anderlecht Stadium) and the second game on 31 August in Geneva (where Lugano plays its European matches). Ticket information will follow.

We must get past Lugano to qualify for the Europa League group stage. The loser enters the group stage of the Conference League.

Lugano is located in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino in Switzerland. In its history, the club became Swiss national champions three times and won the Cup four times.

The summit of Swiss football

The last cup triumph was in 2022 and last season Lugano made it to the cup final (3-2 loss against Young Boys), while the club also finished third in the Swiss Super League.

It shows that FC Lugano is re-establishing itself at the top of Swiss football. After bankruptcy in 2002, the club built a new future through a merger in lower leagues.

Stade_de_Genève

The Stade de Genève is the home ground of Servette Genève. Our away match against FC Lugano will be played here.

Game in Genève

Since 2015, the Southern Swiss have returned to playing at the highest level. The current Stadio di Cornaredo, with its just over 6,000 seats, does not meet European standards.

For fixtures in European competitions, the club moves, just as we are forced to do, to another stadium. FC Lugano - Union Saint-Gilloise will take place in Geneva on Thursday 31/08.

Negotiations on the kick-off time are still ongoing, ticket prices for the home match will follow as soon as possible. Information on travel to Geneva and ticket prices for the away game will also be communicated once we receive more information.
