Amoura gives Dudenpark long-awaited win against Club Brugge
At last. A home win against Club Brugge! Amoura was the man of the match. An exceptional overhead kick and an unparalleled sprint and finish
The match started without lots of chances, until Casper Nielsen struck out and Moris neutralised the danger.
What happened afterwards another memorable moment for this Union side. A cross was well contested by Puertas the ball behind Amoura in the box, who scored with an immaculate overhead kick. The stadium and Mignolet, who had no choice but to watch, were perplexed. 1-0 for Union.
Bruges did not threaten, we half did and so it was 1-0 at half-time.
After the break, Union rolled over Brugge. Lapoussin lashed out, Puertas from a free-kick and then Castro-Montes towards the far corner. All three attempts were saved by a strong Mignolet.
Bruges' triple substitution paid off. The substitute De Cuyper netted the 1-1 in wonderful fashion. It was the visitors' only major opportunity and it went in.
But our Unionists were not out of sorts. Rodriguez found Eckert Ayensa and served Amoura. He reached his top speed and then nobody could follow. Not even Mignolet, 2-1.
Union held on smoothly afterwards. And could even make it 3-1, but a substitute Rodriguez, who had a strong performance, missed from the spot in added time.
Not to worry, it remained 2-1 and so we won for the first time since our return to the top division at home against Bruges. Moreover, we stay on top of the Jupiler Pro League.
See you in Linz on Thursday!
