Before the trip away on Sunday evening, Union Saint-Gilloise had not yet won away. After away defeats against KV Mechelen and Antwerp and a draw against St. Truiden, our Unionists wanted to make up for it at the Elindus Arena.
Union Saint-Gilloise started the game strongly and dominated the first quarter of an hour. Then the game balanced out but Union still has the best chances. Shortly before the end of the half, Lazare was knocked down in the sixteen-yard box. The challenge was analyzed by the VAR and after a long period, the penalty was awarded. Teddy Teuma then scored (0-1), giving our Unionists the lead before the break.
After the break, our boys had a few chances but failed to capitalize on them. However, Just after the hour mark, Simon Adingra doubled the score. (0-2).
Changes were then made bringing additional energy to the group. Then, Dennis Eckert scored the reassuring third goal from the penalty spot.
Towards the dying minutes of the game, Guillaume François received a red card and our Unionists had to finish the game with 10 men. In added time, Zulte Waregem got a consolation goal from Stan Braem. First away win this season for our unionists!
Good preparation for Thursday, when we face Union Berlin in the Europa League, fourth in the Bundesliga.

We knew that here in Waregem it would be a difficult match. But the most important thing is that we have the 3 points with 3 goals. We knew we had to put a lot of intensity into it. We wanted to take control of this game. We faced a team that had the backing… but the end result is that we won and we can come home with the three points. Teddy Teuma
