Union SG – KV Mechelen : 2-0
After two losses to the Malinois this season, Union was keen to taste victory again against K.V. Mechelen.
Faced with a high pressing and well-organized defense, Union took time to get into the match and develop some rhythm. Shortly after the half-hour mark, Kaoru Mitoma perfectly crossed the ball across the box to Vanzier who slipped the ball by the far post.
At the start of the second half, Union countered the Malinois onslaught as Teddy Teuma strolled through the visiting defense on the break to then unleash an unstoppable strike to make it 2-0
KV applied pressure again, however without success. Our players were still shaky towards the end of the game. It seemed that Moris apparently gave up his clean sheet despite an excellent game, however, luckily it was offside. Three new points, on the eve of a big week for our Unionists!
After Wednesday’s trip to Zulte-Waregem, where visiting supporters are unfortunately not admitted, Union will welcome Cercle de Bruges in the Marien! This fixture will be played next Saturday, December 18th, at 6.30 p.m. and tickets are on sale all week (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) at the Club House or on our online ticket office!
