Sporting Clube de Portugal – Union SG : 1-1

The young team from Sporting Lisbon played with a lot of guts against our Unionists on Wednesday evening. The Portuguese started strong and created most of the threats. After a dangerous period in front of Pirard’s goal, Ross Sykes’ challenge causes a penalty for the opposition. The penalty was then converted by Pedro Porro (1-0).

The game became more balanced as Vanzeir began to threaten the Portuguese side, however, his left-footed shot did not find the target. A little later, a potential equalizer from Eckert Ayensa’s header was eventually disallowed for offside.

In the second half, Union got more chances. Sykes took the corner and took advantage of a bad recovery to strike it from outside the area to equalize the match (1-1).

Union continued to attack, including excellent chances for substitutes Teddy Teuma and Arnaud Dony, but the score remained at 1-1.

This Wednesday evening, our Unionists are returning from the Algarve, Thursday afternoon there is a teambuilding exercise. And then, on Saturday, it’s time for our last pre-season friendly at the Feyenoord training complex. This match will take place without supporters but will be broadcast live on our channels. Ticket information for our first league game against STVV will be available as soon as possible.
