RFC Seraing – Union SG : 0-4

Saturday, January 15, 2022, 7:20 p.m., Seraing.

The least we can say is that Union is starting 2022 as it ended in 2021… with fireworks. In less than 5 minutes, Deniz Undav had already capitalized from a Seresian defensive mistake in the local evening fog. Soon after, joy turned to reorganization as Jonas Bager conceded a red card as he was the last man to take down the Seresian attack. This did not prevent Dante Vanzeir from doubling the score on a good interception before the half-hour mark. RFC Seraing were still fighting back, however, the Unionist defense responded in good fashion!

The referee of the match, Mr. Wesli De Cremer made the decision to stop the match following the persistent fog in Pairay. The match would be postponed until Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.

Union, with 10 men, will start their second half 72 hours after the end of the first half. Lazare Amani and Damien Marcq gave way to Christian Burgess and Siebe Van der Heyden for a match marked by… penalties!

After local pressure that lasted a short time, Union found their marks and Loic Lapoussin forced a penalty on the hour mark. Teddy Teuma converted from the

spot to lead 0-3. Despite their efforts, Seraing tried everything to get back into the contest, but they fell victim to the VAR, and the referee designated another penalty for Union. Undav scored to become the top scorer in the championship. At the very end of the match… a third penalty. Bart Nieuwkoop saved the ball on the line, but the VAR invalidated the decision.

Victory 0-4, in two stages and a new clean sheet away from home!
